2012 FIGT Conference

Date:
March 2-31, 2012
Location: The Westin Alexandria | Alexandria, VA (hotel website)

The 2012 Families in Global Transition Conference will be held for the second year in a row in Washington, DC. The conference provides a forum where members of internationally mobile families, e.g. corporate, military, diplomatic, missionary, gather with those who assist them: human resource personnel, relocation experts, educators and counselors. Together we will develop strategies for dealing with challenges of cross-cultural living.

The FIGT Conference promises to offer:

  • A forum for presenting new research.
  • An environment to facilitate the exchanging of new ideas.
  • An extraordinary opportunity for global networking across all sectors involved in the
    international and intercultural transitions.

Keynote Speakers:
FIGT is pleased to welcome two outstanding keynote speakers: Roy Dunbar and Eva Laszlo-Herbert.

Roy Dunbar is a seasoned senior executive who has served in leadership roles in a number of
international companies. Mr. Dunbar will present on Competencies for Success in a Small Global Village. The session will outline why the world is essentially little more than a tightly interconnected village where new rules decide individual and collective success.

Eva Laszlo-Herbert is characterized by having an insatiable interest in words, people and ideas that make the world a better place. Ms. Laszlo-Herbert will present on The Building Blocks of Me, Myself and I When Life Takes You Places: Identity vs Nationality. The presentation will explore the intricate maze of what makes us who we are…or who we think we are. The presentation toolbox will hold stories, jokes, a few statistics, anecdotes, pictures, maps and the strong hope to interest you in some Q&A.
