Guidelines for Submitting Articles to Families in Global Transition (FIGT)
Families in Global Transition is pleased to feature articles, research reports, academic papers, and other documents relating to all aspects of international relocation to educate and enhance the experience of expatriates and those who assist them. Both original and previously published works are acceptable. Reprint permission from the original source must accompany previously published works. New, original works become the property of FIGT, and may be reprinted in other publications at our discretion and with proper authorization. In general, original and in-depth documents will be placed in the Associates Center, while shorter, reprinted or more broadly-focused articles will appear in the Resource Center.
If you would like to submit a written work on a relocation-related topic, please adhere to the following guidelines. Note that no financial compensation is available; however, if the author so chooses, we will publish his or her name, telephone, fax, e-mail and Web site with the article.
Style and Editorial Policy
Generally speaking, documents should be approximately 1,000 words in length. However, if the document requires more space, contact the editor before submission to discuss its suitability.
Formatting requirements:
Word document
Arial font
12-point size
Single spaced
Title bold and the author's name listed directly under the title
Editorial requirements:
Perform spelling (US English) and grammar checks. FIGT does not currently staff an editorial department so please carefully review your article prior to submission to ensure clarity, accuracy and consistency.
All quotes and statistics within the article must be properly attributed.
Tables and charts (with source) in PDF format can accompany the article.
Define acronyms, unusual terms and jargon.
Limit the use of bullets; provide a text format.
Do not promote your particular company's product or services: while articles are to benefit the audience, they are not meant to be self-serving for the author. If you would like to feature your products or services elsewhere in the FIGT website, contact Paul White, Marketing Director at pwhite@harvestnr.com for Web site opportunities.
Subheads are recommended for clarity and organizational purposes.
Provide a one- to two-sentence description of the article that will serve as a lead-in on the main FIGT Article page.
Include a 70-75 word biography that will provide the reader with an overview of the author's expertise on the topic. Contact information is allowed - see the first paragraph.
