From the very beginning, FIGT has been passionately built up by its champions, members, and believers. In the last few years of transition to a membership organization, a small dedicated team of Board Directors and supporters has restructured and grown our organization. Now is the time for your participation in the exciting journey ahead! Join us in furthering the legacy of change-makers, thought-leaders, and advocates in the globally mobile space by applying for one of the open Board of Director positions for the 2020-2022 term.

What is the Board of Directors?

FIGT’s Board of Directors is responsible for both execution and governance of FIGT’s mission and strategy. It is a working Board - not only an advisory one - and comprises volunteer Board Members elected for 2-year terms from amongst current FIGT members. 

Four Executive Committee roles oversee the overall functioning of the Board: the President, Vice President, Treasurer, and Executive Secretary. See the Board Structure.

All Board Directors and committee members are voluntary positions.

What are the requirements to apply for a Director Position?

  • FIGT member.
  • Must have
    • Attended an FIGT Annual conference
    • OR been an active FIGT volunteer for any length of time
    • OR be an active attendee of an FIGT Affiliate group
  • Ability to commit to 25+ hours every month of volunteer work for Board position role.
  • Attend the monthly virtual General Board Meetings. The General Board Meetings take place once a month and are two hours long. Meetings are across time zones and may require working at irregular and sometimes difficult hours. If needs arise there may be more than one each month.
  • Attend the 2021 and 2022 Conferences, including the in-person Board meetings which take place the day before and the day after the conference. Since FIGT is a volunteer driven organization, it can only cover the conference registration fee for its Board members. Board members pay for travel to/from conference and accommodation  at the conference.
  • Prior experience managing cross-cultural teams in diverse locations. 
  • Prior experience working online using collaborative platforms such as Google Drive, Zoom, WhatsApp and Doodle.
  • Available for on-boarding training during August and September 2020 (including General Board Meeting attendance, meet with predecessor, chair a committee meeting, and meet with Executive Committee members to whom the position reports.

How will the Nominations Process work?

To apply formally for a Board role; please fill the application form below, adding a link to your LinkedIn page or uploading a resume. The deadline to receive complete applications is May 31, 2020. All applications for Board positions will be sent to the 2020 Nominations Committee who will then shortlist candidates for interviews. The Nominations Committee will present its final nominees slate to the Board in early July and post Board approval, the final candidate slate will be presented to members in late July 2020. After member approval, the OnBoarding process for incoming Board Members will start in August 2020 with terms officially beginning on October 1, 2020.
