    Supporting Your Globally Mobile Teen Through Transition into College

    Date: Monday, June 3, 2019

    If you are the parent of a high school student who has spent a large part of his or her life abroad, this workshop is for you!

    Join us to learn how you can guide your globally-mobile teenagers in the college selection and application process by understanding and leveraging the unique skills they gain through their globally-mobile life. How being a TCK affects their college search and selection process. How to stand out from the crowd by sharing their extraordinary experiences in their application essays, and how to help them develop social-emotional resilience to transition into college successfully. 

    This interactive workshop will feature Hannah Marie Morris, PhD and Megan Norton from Intercultural Transitions, who will share their expertise, facilitate conversations and provide resources for families and their high school and college-age kids.

    Hannah Marie Morris, PhD is an international educator and global nomad passionate about assisting others as they navigate their own intercultural transitions. Her professional experience in college admissions and international education along with her research in higher education and intercultural learning has enabled her to combine the academic and practical knowledge of cross-cultural transitions to help students, families, and schools around the globe. She has worked with students from over 60 nationalities in 9 countries throughout her career.She is a member of the International Association of College Admissions Counsellors (IACAC), Associate Member of the Independent Educational Consultant Association (IECA), member and recent scholarship awardee of the Society of Intercultural Education, Research, and Training (SIETAR) and presenter and member of the Association of International Educators (NAFSA).

    Megan Norton is an intercultural training specialist and researcher focusing on trends in transnational higher education and its influence on intercultural relations. Her expertise as an intercultural trainer combined with her experience in international education has enabled her to design socio-emotional and educational programming tailored to globally mobile students. A self-identifying Adult Third Culture Kid (ATCK), she attended 7 schools on 4 continents throughout her childhood and understands the needs of globally mobile youth as they prepare for university. She has presented her research at global conferences including FIGT , SIETAR, NAFSA, IMI, and CIES. Megan holds a MA in Intercultural Communication, a MA in Business and Strategic Communication, and a BA in Public Relations.
