FIGT has always been powered by volunteers including our Board of Directors. The Board is responsible for leading FIGT into the future, shaping our direction and ensuring that we continue to deliver our mission.

If you would like to help to shape the future of FIGT and do the work required to grow its membership, support our globally mobile community and continue to deliver our Annual Conference, please apply for one of the open Board of Director positions for the 2021-2023 term.

    Why apply?

    Working on the FIGT Board of Directors and with the associated committees is a fantastic chance to use and grow your professional skills while giving back to your global, intercultural community.

    It’s the perfect way to use your creativity, knowledge, enthusiasm, and leadership skills for fulfilling work with a dynamic group of like-minded global individuals.

    What is the Board of Directors?

    FIGT’s Board of Directors is responsible for executing and governing FIGT’s mission and strategy. It is a working Board — not an advisory one.

    The volunteer Board Directors are elected for 2-year terms from among current FIGT members.
    The Board is overseen by the Executive Committee, comprising the President, Vice President, Treasurer, and Secretary. See the Board Structure.

    What are the requirements to apply for a Director Position?

    • Is a current FIGT member.
    • Must have attended an FIGT Annual Conference or volunteered for 12 months with an FIGT Committee.
    • Can commit to 25+hours every month for Board position.
    • Has prior experience managing cross-cultural teams in diverse locations.
    • Can work online using platforms such as Google Drive, Zoom, WhatsApp and Doodle.

    Board Directors are expected to:

    • Attend monthly, 2-hour virtual General Board Meetings, which may sometimes be at difficult hours due to time zones.
    • Attend the 2022 and 2023 Conferences, including in-person Board meetings the day before and the day after the conference. FIGT will cover only the conference registration fee for its Board members.
    • Undergo on-boarding training during August and September 2021.

    How will the Nominations Process work?

    To apply formally for a Board role; please fill the application form below, adding a link to your LinkedIn page or uploading a resume. 

    The deadline to receive complete applications is April 13, 2021.

    All applications for Board positions will be sent to the 2021 Nominations Committee who will then shortlist candidates for interviews. The Nominations Committee will present its final nominees slate to the Board in early July and post Board approval, the final candidate slate will be presented to members in late July 2021. After member approval, the On Boarding process for incoming Board Members will start in August 2021 with terms officially beginning on October 1, 2021.


    • April to June: 2021 Nominations Committee shortlists and interviews candidates; prepares final nominees slate.
    • Early July: Board reviews and approves final nominees slate.
    • Late July: FIGT members review and approve final candidate slate.
    • August: Incoming Board Directors start on-boarding process.
    • October 1: Terms officially begin.
