FIGT Webinar
Raising Bilingual Children
Facilitator: Virginie Raguenaud
Author of Bilingual by Choice
Wednesday, January 13, 2016
12:00 PM EDT, 5:00 PM UCT/GMT
About the Webinar
It is a common misconception that children will simply pick up languages if they’re exposed to them. It takes commitment and creativity at home and in our communities for children to learn and, more importantly, maintain two or more languages.
In this webinar we’ll discuss the cost of losing a native language, the common misconceptions about childhood bilingualism, and the specific steps we can take today to keep our native languages alive. Using the latest research findings, we will look at ways to help our children integrate their multiple cultural influences. We’ll also review the life-long social, cultural, economic, and educational benefits of bilingualism.
Intended Audience
This webinar is for parents, educators, and anyone else who works with bilingual children.
