FIGT Australia/New Zealand Affiliate Webinar

A Conversation with Helen Ellis - A Book Series DONE

We’re turning the tables and putting the spotlight on our very own Helen, co-Chair of FIGT Australia/New Zealand.

Helen is a researcher, founder of DistanceFamilies.com and author who has just published the third, and final book in a unique series exploring intergenerational families separated by geography. A veteran of distance familying herself, Helen brings both professional insight and lived experience to her work.

Join us as we learn more about her journey, the story behind the books, and what’s next.

Our questions for Helen:

  • Distance Families—three books later… would a PhD have been easier
  • Three generations, three perspectives: why do they matter?
  • What themes kept reappearing across the series?
  • Celebrating a major milestone—what’s next?
  • FIGT Forum 2026 (to be held on April 18th and 19th): your topic has never been discussed before.  Can you tell us more?
